In an interview in The New York Times, Rawles identified himself as a “guns and groceries” founfers. Would I buy it again, knowing what I know now? I like the hope for a better future threaded throughout the book. The nature of the threat may have changed but groups of various descriptions have been predicting a breakdown of society since biblical times — and very occasionally they’ve been right.
Although the environmental points do sound true to me the others made me laugh. Rawles is opposed to racism. On his book covers, in his signature, on his checks, in his blog, and as his legal name, he presents his name as “James Wesley, Rawles”, using a comma to distinguish between founder given and family names. I’ve read more engaging fortune cookies, and at least I could eat the cookie.

It is followed by his Counter-Caliphate Chronicles novel series. There were some fun aspects and encounter though that did make the story fun to read at time. Not adding to the story brings my to my last gripe.
On its release day, October 4,Survivors rose to eawles in Amazon’s overall book sales ranks and 1 in their action-adventure category. At times I wondered if I was reading a survival manual disguised as a novel due to the level of det I think this book was miscategorized.
